چکیده

Food dependent exercise induced anaphylaxis (FDEIA) diagnosis requires the patient to be independently tolerant of both exercise and the responsible food. The current incidence of FDEIA in children is uncertain. Different foods have been described as the cause of the reactions, including: wheat products; shell-fish; vegetables; fruits; nuts; egg; mushrooms; corn; garlic; meat; and rice. Triggering factors include foods, exercise, patient’s general condition, drugs, alcohol, and seasonal conditions. The symptoms of FDEIA vary in severity but fatalities are rare. The most commonly seen symptoms consist of skin and respiratory manifestations, abdominal pain, fatigue and loss of consciousness. However, we believe there to be some overlapping cases. Here, we report on a patient who suffered from exercise induced asthma (EIA) but also has FDEIA. CASE REPORT

Corn-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis

Background Exercise-induced anaphylaxis is a rare disorder characterized by the development of a severe allergic response occurring after mildto-strenuous physical activity. Food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (FDEIA) comprises 30-50% of all cases of exercise-induced anaphylaxis [2]. Diagnosis involves careful history and appropriate skin prick testing and food specific IgE levels [4,6]...

Anaphylaxis associated with exercise

Exercise-induced Anaphylaxis (EIA) is a rare, unpredictable, potentially fatal, syndrome characterised by anaphylaxis associated with exercise. Anaphylaxis is associated with a mortality rate of between 1-2%; importantly, some 5-15% of anaphylactic episodes are caused by /or are associated with exercise. EIA may occur independently of food allergen ingestion, or may require the ingestion of a f...

Food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis occurred only in a warm but not in a cold environment

Food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (FDEIA) is a type of exercise-induced anaphylaxis associated with postprandial exercise. We describe a 19-year-old man with FDEIA. Our patient complained of urticaria, angioedema, dizziness and hypotension associated with exercise after ingestion of walnut-containing foods in a warm environment. Skin prick test and prick to prick test were positive fo...

Food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis.

Food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (FDEIA) is a specific variant of exercise-induced anaphylaxis that requires both vigorous physical activity and the ingestion of specific foods within the preceding several hours. When patients present to the emergency department (ED) with allergic reactions, careful history regarding these 2 factors is required to establish the correct diagnosis. Cor...
